ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Jo Daviess County Economic Development program is designed to serve all of Jo Daviess County, which includes the cities and villages of Apple River, East Dubuque, Elizabeth, Galena, Hanover, Nora, Scales Mound, Stockton, and Warren and all of the unincorporated areas within Jo Daviess County. Our program is intended to provide for a centralized point of contact to facilitate economic development within the County. The services are currently contracted for through the Freeport Area Economic Development Foundation, Inc. The goals and objectives of this program are to retain, diversify and/or expand local business, and to attract new business thereby creating new employment opportunities and better paying jobs, which will help sustain the culture and history of Jo Daviess County. This program researches, collects, and coordinates the distribution of data from other units of local government, the State of Illinois, the Federal Government, private sector businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and other agencies and organizations involved in economic development generally. The program also seeks to monitor the current status and future potential of the County’s economy. The primary services and activities of our program are as follows: · Serve as a County-Wide Clearinghouse of Information Maintain current information about the County that is relevant to economic development activities, such as demographics, labor force, available buildings and sites, building codes, zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations. Serve as a countywide point of contact, providing information when requested for existing or new business projects. Provide data collection and dissemination for: - Agencies and organizations

- Funding resources
- State and federal programs
- Tax data and analysis
- Site information
- Property availability
· Matching Projects with Programs Provide a point of contact for potential development projects designed to match projects with the appropriate programs offered by the County, other units of local government, the State of Illinois, the Federal Government, or other external organizations · Facilitate Relationships Coordinate the County’s economic development activities with those of other units of local governments, other governmental agencies and programs, and other non-profit and private sector groups · Job Retention and Existing Business Support Provide a point of contact and serve as a resource for existing businesses with the intention of aiding in job retention and sustaining existing local businesses within the County
