What is the date, time and location of your tax sales?
OCTOBER 23, 2023 AT 10:00 A.M.,  JO DAVIESS COUNTY COURTHOUSE (Third Floor), 330 N. BENCH STREET, GALENA, IL 61036.
How often do you hold tax sales?
Once per year.
Does your county hold a deed sale in addition to a lien sale?
No.
How and when do I register for the tax sale?
You need to register in writing 10 working days prior to the sale.  Registration deadline is October 6, 2023.

What type of payment requirements are needed at the sale?
Personal or cashiers check with credit reference from your bank.
Is there a deposit require before the sale?
Yes, registration fee is $250.00.
What is the bidding process?
Bidding starts at 9% going to the lowest bidder.
What type of document is issued at the sale?
Receipt and certificate as soon as processed by the County Clerk.
Are there any other expenses in addition to the cost of the lien?
Yes, Clerk and Treasurer fees.
What is the foreclosure process?
Two and one-half years redemption period.
What happens to the liens that are not sold at the Tax Lien Certificate auction?
They are purchased by the County Trustee.
Can they be purchased over-the-county directly from the county?
No.
Do you allow investors in invest in Tax Lien Certificates via mail or telephone without attending the auction?
No, you must attend in person.
When will the delinquent property list become available?
The list will be available approximately 3 weeks after the second installment due date of September 2, 2023 at a cost of $50.00.
